Chapter 1769
Karina's expression darkened instantly.
Yes, she needed money, and she genuinely wanted to earn it, but she had not fallen to the point of trading her
body for cash.
She stepped back, keeping her tone polite but firm. "Sir, I'm just a server here. My job is to sell drinks-nothing
more."
"Don't play innocent," the man sneered, his gaze filled with undisguised contempt. "If you're working in a place
like this, doesn't that mean you'll do anything for the right price? Look, I'm not asking for free. If you make us
happy tonight, I'll buy everything on your cart. Don't believe me? Go ask your manager if he's heard of Mike
Taylor."
Karina forced an awkward smile, grabbing the cart and trying to leave. She had no intention of compromising
herself, but she also couldn't afford to escalate the situation.

"Sir, I'm sorry, but this really isn't part of my job..."
However, the drunk man, seeing her attempt to walk away, grew angry. He shot to his feet and grabbed her arm,
muttering profanities under his breath. "I'm giving you face by choosing you, and this is how you act? Do you
know how much | spend here every year-nearly twenty grand! Are you seriously saying you can't sit down for
one drink?"
"Don't givethat crap!" he shouted, cutting her off. "You're already working in a bar. Don't act all high and
mighty!"
Karina's eyes welled up with tears. She had been working so hard just to survive, but it felt like life never gave
her a break.
"What are you crying for?" the man barked, his tone growing harsher. "You're ruining my night!"
The commotion quickly drew the attention of the bar's manager, who approached to assess the situation.
Predictably, he sided with the customer, turning on Karina without hesitation.
"He just asked you to sit and have a drink. What's the problem? You're a server. How can you get into conflicts
with customers?"
Karina knew it was pointless to
argue with the manager. To him, the only thing that mattered was the bottom line: how many drinks she sold,
how much revenue the bar made. Whether she was being humiliated didn't matter in the slightest.
Lowering her head, she remained silent as the manager scolded her harshly, unloading all his frustration onto
her. When he was done, he turned back to the customer with an apologetic smile.
"I'm so sorry about this. She's new and doesn't understand how things work. How about | give you a discount on
tonight's bill and send over a few other girls to take care of you?"
"I don't need anyone else. | want
her," the customer insisted, clearly unwilling to back down. "She's the one | picked, and now she's giving me

The manager didn't hesitate to throw Karina under the bus. "This is your mess. You handle it." Karina felt
cornered, her mind racing for a way out, when a familiar voice broke through the tension.
"What century are we in, and people are still acting like it's medieval times, snatching women?" It was Wilfred.
He strode over with purpose, placing himself squarely between Karina and the customer, shielding her from the
man's leering gaze.
At that moment, Karina felt a surge of safety like never before. Wilfred's presence was like a fortress, blocking
out the man's disgusting behavior.
"And who the hell are you?" the
customer shot back, unfazed. "Do
