Chapter 248 You Want Me

Stellan kissed Alaric for a long tbefore pulling away. They were at a building entrance with lots of people

around.

Stellan was usually rational and shy, never showing affection in public.

"What's wrong with you?" Alaric sensed something was off.

Stellan just shook her head.

"Are you upset because we didn't find any clues?" Alaric asked, staring at Stellan.

"No," Stellan said, looking up at Alaric. "When I'm down, your words mean a lot. | just feel so in love with you and

lucky to be married to you."

Alaric laughed, tapping her head. "Why so sentimental suddenly?"

Stellan pouted, staying silent. Alaric shook his head with a smile. "Your mood swings are like a three-year-old's;

you scared me."

Stellan finally smiled.

"Don't worry. I'll help you figure it out," Alaric said, leading Stellan to the car.

"Alaric, I'm serious," Stellan urged. "The Storm family case is old and tough. Your entertainment center opens

next month, and you're swamped. Let's put the case on hold until after the opening, okay?" Stellan avoided

mentioning Ambrose; she wouldn't be blackmailed, yet didn't want Alaric to face him. It wasn't doubting Alaric,

whose health remained fragile, yet Ambrose was relentless. "Are you really upset?" Alaric asked again.

"No," Stellan clarified. "I'm clear-headed. We tried, but if we didn't find anything, there's nothing more we can do.

You're busy, and | don't want to drain you."

"I've waited for seven years; I'm not in a rush. Clearing the deceased's nis important, but you're more

important. | want you healthy. | don't want to lose you." Alaric said firmly, "I promise you won't lose me, ever."

Stellan smiled. "Then listen to me, or I'll really get mad."

Alaric agreed, "Okay, we'll put the Storm family case on hold."

"Yeah!"

It felt unfair to Brennan, but he would understand.

"We're here; let's not leave empty-handed. Let's treat it like a vacation. I'll show you the sights, and we'll head

back the morning after tomorrow," Alaric suggested. "Okay, you decide."

Alaric was right. They couldn't leave empty-handed. They might as well enjoy the trip.

Traveling was a luxury for both of them. Since the Storm family went bankrupt, neither of them had traveled.

So, they had a blast over the next two days, forgetting all their worries.

While Alaric and Stellan were relaxing, Marigold was on edge. Knowing they were out of town investigating the

Storm family case, she was worried.

"Tomorrow's Monday. Why aren't they back yet?" Marigold fretted. "Could something have happened?"

Joe tried to reassure her. "Mrs. Knight, don't worry. Mr. Knight will be fine."

"No, I'm still uneasy. He's doing something dangerous. | can't fully trust Ambrose."

Marigold was restless but knew calling Alaric would backfire, so she had the kids call them instead.

But Caspian and Harry wouldn't listen, so she turned to Elisa.

"Elisa, your parents have been gone for two days. Can you call your dad and check if they're okay?"

"Grandma, they're just having fun. It's rare for them to get away alone. Why rush them back?" Elisa said. "They

have the tand money. Let them enjoy it." Marigold insisted, "Elisa, they've been gone for two days. I'm

worried. Please call."

Elisa tried to calm her. "Grandma, my dad isn't a kid. You need to let go. If you rush them back, it's tough being

your son and daughter-in-law." Marigold was speechless.

"Elisa, focus on your studies. Stop watching those TV shows," Marigold snapped, frustrated.

The kids were no help, so Marigold decided to call herself. Knowing Alaric wouldn't answer, she called Stellan.

Alaric was in the shower when Stellan saw Marigold's call. She answered, "Hello, Mrs. Knight."

"Stellan, are you and Alaric still out of town?"

"Yes, we'll be back early tomorrow."

"That's good. Is everything okay?"

"Yes, everything's fine."

"Good. Remember, Alaric's health isn't great. He's your husband; you need to take care of him. If he wants to go

out of town, you should persuade him not to." Stellan knew Marigold blamed her for the trip. Feeling guilty, she

replied, "I understand. I'll take good care of him. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now." Stellan didn't want to

talk more. After hanging up, Marigold was furious.

"That woman!" she yelled.

Even out of town, it felt like Stellan could still hear Marigold cursing her.

"Who was on the phone?" Alaric asked, coming out of the bathroom, half-open bathrobe, towel in hand, drying

his hair.

He looked really charming.

"A spam call," Stellan lied. "But you look really charming right now."

"What? You wantnow?" Alaric teased.
