Chapter 256 The Ex and the Current

During their dating period, Rowena enjoyed singing and composing her own songs. She had a real knack for

music. Now, Rowena had finally made it big and beca popular star. That's awesome!

"Sort of," Rowena smiled awkwardly but politely. "How have you been all these years?"

"Good. Really good," Cormac replied, relieved she didn't know about the Nash family. He tried hard to hide his

feelings. "That's good." Rowena nodded, then looked at Aurora and asked with a smile, "And who is this young

lady?" Aurora looked about fourteen or fifteen, so she couldn't be Cormac's daughter. Then who was she? "Oh,

she's my wife's sister." Cormac blurted out without thinking.

Aurora, standing nearby, was shocked. She didn't expect Cormac to know Rowena and quickly said, "Yes."

Cormac was grateful for Aurora's quick thinking.

Rowena seemed surprised but then smiled calmly. "I see. We're not young anymore; it's tto settle down."

"Yes." Cormac responded awkwardly, avoiding eye contact with Rowena. His feelings were all over the place.

Rowena was also surprised to see Cormac here. Wasn't he a friend of Alaric? Given his status, he should've been

at the opening yesterday. Today was a free admission day packed with tourists. Why would Cormac bring Aurora

here today? It didn't make sense.

"Rowena." A man's voice broke the awkward silence. A young man in a high-end suit walked in. He was tall and

handsome.

"You just finished performing, signing autographs, and taking photos-it must be exhausting," he said, putting his

arm around Rowena.

Cormac quickly looked away, feeling crushed.

"Rowena needs to rest. Autographs and photos can wait," the young man said to Cormac and Aurora, waving

them off.

"They're not here for autographs; he is..." Rowena started to explain but paused, unsure of what to say.

"Oh, so you know him, Rowena?" the young man asked. "Are you friends?"

"We went to the sschool," Cormac said, guessing their relationship. Saying he was Rowena's ex would only

make things more awkward. "I was two years ahead of her."

"Alright. Meeting here must be fate." The young man introduced himself, "I'm Rowena's boyfriend, Richard

Walker."

Although Cormac had guessed it, confirming it still hurt.

"Richard, you two make a great couple." Cormac forced a smile. "You guys must be busy, so I'll take my leave."

Cormac seized Aurora's hand and dashed off, fleeing-like, without a word.

After Cormac left, Rowena's eyes deepened for a moment. She looked away from his retreating figure and heard

Richard say, "Rowena, the manager just toldwe have dinner with Alaric and his wife from Nexus Innovations

tonight. Mr. Knight personally chose you as the ambassador for this entertainment complex. Nexus Innovations is

our major sponsor now, so we should thank Mr. Knight properly tonight."

"Okay." Rowena responded absentmindedly.

"You must be tired. Go rest at the hotel, and the driver will pick you up in the afternoon," Richard said.

"Aren't you coming back with me?"

"I'll stay a bit longer," Richard said, annoyed. "A lot of female fans showed up today. You know how they reacted

after we announced our relationship. I'll take this chance to calm them down." "Okay," Rowena replied, then was

escorted by her manager and assistant to a car. Even after getting in, her heart was still unsettled.

Cormac felt the sway. After leaving Rowena's dressing room, he felt like he was floating, a bit dizzy.

"Cormac?" Aurora quickly helped him sit on a bench, worried. "Are you okay? Do you feel unwell? Is it

heatstroke?"

The weather was scorching, and with the crowd, Aurora was genuinely concerned.

"No," Cormac shook his head. "I'm fine."

He recognized his unease was psychological, not physical, yet he felt terrible.

Aurora noticed his bad mood and sat with him silently without prying.

"Aurora, I'm sorry for making you lie earlier," Cormac finally said. Aurora smiled. "It's okay. | know you had a

reason."

Cormac gave a bitter smile and said nothing more.

He never expected to run into Rowena again, especially not like this. It was fortunate she didn't know about the

Nash family, and they probably wouldn't meet again. Rowena was now a star and had found her other half. The

pain she went through was in the past, and Cormac was genuinely happy for her.

"Let's go, Aurora. There are still several areas we haven't visited. I'll go with you," Cormac said.

"No need. If you're not feeling well, we should go home," Aurora quickly said.

"I'm okay," Cormac insisted. "It's rare to get free admission to everything. Why not take advantage of it? After

today, we won't have another chance." Aurora was tempted, so Cormac accompanied her to finish the tour. By

the tthey were done, it was already dark.

They walked out of the entertainment center and waited at the bus stop. Just then, Richard, surrounded by

bodyguards, cout and got into a car.

He saw Cormac and Aurora getting on a bus across the road. Thinking about Cormac's earlier demeanor, Richard

felt inexplicably annoyed.

"That guy who just got on the bus said he and Rowena went to the sschool," Richard pointed at Cormac and

said to his manager. "He's not even a classmate but acts like he's close to her."

"People like him, who aren't doing well, always try to latch onto those who are," the manager said with disdain.

"Rowena has been the ambassador for this entertainment center for days. Everyone knew she would be here

today. He probably found out and cto stage an accidental encounter."

A staged coincidence?

That was quite possible. Could Cormac be targeting Rowena?

"If that's the case, it's concerning," Richard mused. "His nis Cormac Nash. Look into him. We can't let him

latch onto Rowena. We've worked hard to build our popularity after years abroad. Since announcing our

relationship, I've already lost a lot of fans. We can't afford any more issues. People like him will do anything for

money."

"Understood," the manager replied. "I'll get someone to look into his background. For now, just concentrate on

tonight's dinner. Alaric is doing really well in his career right now. Getting on his good side will probably get you a

lot of resources for your future."

"Got it," Richard said.
