Chapter 366 Josep, Feel Free to Speak Up If You Need Anything

That night was a total nightmare for Stellan, seriously unbearable. She was practically counting every breath

Alaric took, ticking off the seconds like a clock. For the first time, Stellan realized a night could drag on forever,

like sprinting through pitch-black darkness.

It felt like she'd been running forever, until she was completely wiped out, barely hanging on, before she finally

saw a glimmer of light.

When dawn finally broke, Stellan couldn't stay in bed any longer. She got up, washed up, and headed to the

kitchen.

Since sleep was a no-go, she decided to whip up a heartfelt breakfast for Alaric. By the tAlaric came

downstairs, breakfast was already laid out on the table. With a smile, Stellan said, "Alaric, perfect timing. Come

eat."

"Why are you up so early today?" Alaric asked.

"Getting old, can't sleep, so | got up early," Stellan joked, then added, "If | remember right, today's the day Josep

comes to treat you."

"Yeah," Alaric said, feeling grateful. "I feel bad about it; it's such a hassle for Josep. It's just a treatment injection,

he really doesn't need to cevery time, but Josep insists."

"That's just how Josep is. Once you're his patient, he's all in," Stellan said. "Once I'm done with this busy period,

we should properly thank Josep."

Alaric nodded. "Sounds good."

They had breakfast together. After breakfast, the driver took Stellan to Nexus Innovations, and shortly after,

Josep arrived.

"Morning, Josep," Alaric greeted politely. "Had breakfast? If not, | can have the chef whip something up."

"No need, | ate before coming," Josep said. "Shall we get started?"

"Sure," Alaric quickly responded and headed back to his room, lying down on the bed.

Josep took out the medical kit and professionally administered the treatment injection. This time, it stung a bit.

"Feeling any reaction?" Josep asked.

Alaric replied, "A little."

"The dosage this tis slightly increased," Josep said. "Since you're recovering well, we upped it a bit." Alaric

said, "Okay, Josep, | can handle it."

Just as Alaric finished speaking, his phone rang. It was Neil calling. Seeing the call, he quickly answered. "Neil."

Neil said, "Alaric, | gotta tell you something. The application to reopen the Storm family case got rejected."

"Rejected?" Alaric was stunned. He never saw that coming. "Why?"

Neil replied, "The reason is insufficient evidence."

"Insufficient evidence?" Alaric was totally taken aback.

"Exactly. There's no way around it. To reopen such an old case, we need solid evidence. The current evidence is

kinda weak, so it's not entirely unexpected. Don't be too bummed," Neil said.

Not entirely unexpected? Honestly, he never saw this coming. He was convinced it would be a slam dunk.

Neil continued, "Alright, Alaric, we'll gather more evidence slowly. For now, focus on your health. If your health

tanks, we won't be able to dig into anything."

Sensing Alaric might have more questions, Neil quickly added, "Alright, Alaric, you rest up. | got stuff to handle.

Talk to you later."

Before Alaric could respond, Neil had already hung up. No chance to ask more.

Hearing the news of the rejection hit him hard, and he totally forgot Josep was still there.

"Sorry about that, Josep. | kinda lost it," Alaric quickly explained.

"It's cool," Josep said, "You wanted to reopen the Storm family case?"

"Yeah." Alaric just nodded, not saying more.

"After all these years, it's tough," Josep said, "But the truth will cout eventually."

"I hope so." Alaric forced a smile.

Josep said, "By the way, Mr. Knight, | have a personal matter to discuss with you."

Hearing this, Alaric quickly said, "You're my lifesaver. Without you, | wouldn't be here. Just say the word, no need

to be so formal."

"It's different. This is personal," Josep said slowly, "I have a nephew | haven't been in touch with for years. He

calleda few days ago, saying his family had schanges. He wants to start over and askedto help him

find a job. I only know medical folks, and he doesn't know anything about medicine, so | thought..."

Alaric said, "You want to place him at Nexus Innovations?"

Alaric's bluntness made Josep a bit embarrassed. "Mainly because he hasn't contactedfor so long and

suddenly asked for help. | couldn't refuse. Since he studied business management, working in a company should

be suitable. That's why I turn to you. | originally wanted to talk to Galatea, but she's been swamped, and |

haven't been able to catch her."

"Placing him at Nexus Innovations is no biggie," Alaric said straightforwardly, "Just let him know he can report to

Nexus Innovations anytime. As for the specific position, I'll discuss it with Galatea."

"Okay." Josep was truly grateful. "Thanks a ton, Mr. Knight."

"That's all right. You saved my life. I'm honored to help you," Alaric said.

Josep remarked, "Alright, | won't say any more. Take care of your health. I'll be back for the next treatment."

"Take care, Josep." Alaric watched Josep leave.

After Josep left, Alaric's expression turned serious. Rejected? Was it really due to insufficient evidence?

Just then, his phone rang again. It was Stellan calling, as she already knew Neil had called Alaric.

"Why are you callingduring work?" Alaric asked as he answered.

"Just checking on your treatment," Stellan said, changing the subject, "How did it go?"

"Pretty well, Josep has already left." Alaric felt particularly apologetic and said, "Galatea, | just got a call from

Neil. He said the application to reopen the case has been rejected."
