Chapter 395 Just TellEverything You Guys Have Been Hiding from Me.

Stellan crashed hard that night, but Alaric? Dude must've napped all day and he was wide awake all night.

Next morning, Alaric dragged himself outta bed early, only to find Cormac already up and whipping up breakfast.

"Whoa, since when do you cook? And breakfast, no less?" Alaric couldn't believe his eyes.

"Quit bustin’ my chops," Cormac shot back, setting the food on the table. "You're crashing at my place, man.

Least | can do is feed you. If Galatea found out | didn't, she'd be crushed." Alaric forced a grin and plopped down

at the table. He wasn't really hungry, but he didn't wanna waste Cormac's effort.

"So, what's the plan after breakfast? Office or home?" Cormac asked.

"Office," Alaric replied.

"Not gonna swing by and see Galatea first?" Cormac pressed.

"| texted her last night. Gonna handle sstuff at the office first, then I'll make it up to her tonight," Alaric

explained. "Good call. Make sure you apologize properly," Cormac advised.

Alaric suddenly had a thought. "Cormac, whose side are you on? Mine or hers? Feels like you're all about her."

"Seriously? You're jealous ofnow? Dude, I'm married. Don't be ridiculous," Cormac said, resisting the urge to

smack him.

Alaric gave a wry smile. "I'm just saying. During my coma, weren't you the one helping Galatea win over those

execs?"

'Wait, he knows? Did Silas spill the beans?’ Cormac froze. "You know everything?"

"There's no such thing as a secret forever," Alaric said.

Realizing he was caught, Cormac sat down and got serious. "I didn't hide it from you on purpose. It just didn't

seem necessary anymore. Galatea and Marigold were gunning for the acting director spot. | had to back Galatea.

But we didn't do anything shady. Just talked to the execs, no bribes or anything."

"I get it," Alaric cut him off. "After the Nash family mess, | saw how my mom treated you. If she got that director

spot, you'd be the first to go. You did the right thing." "I'm sorry, Alaric," Cormac apologized.

"Why do you keep saying sorry? There's nothing to apologize for. Even though she's my mom, | know right from

wrong," Alaric said.

Cormac felt a pang of guilt. He shouldn't have given Stellan those bad ideas. If he'd been upfront with Alaric from

the start, maybe things wouldn't be so messed up. "Feeling guilty, huh?" Alaric asked.

Cormac was taken aback. "Yeah, so what?"

"So spill it. Telleverything you guys have been keeping from me. | just had a blowout with Galatea and don't

wanna ask her. You tell me," Alaric demanded. Cormac was puzzled. "About what?"

Alaric shot back, "Cut the crap. You two are hiding something from me."

"What are you talking about? We're not hiding anything. Don't get paranoid," Cormac replied, though he was

sweating bullets inside. 'Is he talking about the threatening letter?"

"The trash bag," Alaric said bluntly. "Silas already spilled the beans. He said you two were whispering about it in

the office for ages and then had him toss a trash bag. After that, he had to tell you exactly which trash can he

used. That's sketchy as hell. You think | wouldn't notice?"

In hindsight, they should've had someone else handle the trash. Silas had been with Alaric for years; it was a

rookie mistake.

Cormac was at a loss for words. How was he supposed to explain this without freaking Alaric out and messing up

his recovery? "Spit it out," Alaric demanded, his tone getting sharper.

Realizing he was cornered, Cormac had no choice but to cclean.

"A threatening letter?" Alaric hadn't seen that coming.

Cormac nodded. "Yeah, it was a letter threatening Galatea, telling her to get you to back off the Storm family

case."

Alaric asked, "You said there was a photo from my military days?"

"Yeah, | snapped a pic of it. Here, check it out." Cormac handed him the photo.

Alaric was floored when he saw it. It was from his tas an officer, a photo from way back. "How the hell did

they get this?"

Cormac said, "That's the freaky part. Neither Galatea nor | have ever seen this photo. It's so old, you probably

lost it ages ago."

Alaric didn't even remember the photo. "Did Neil know too? So my application wasn't really rejected; you guys

just didn't wantdigging into this, right?"

Cormac nodded, feeling guilty. "We were thinking about your health. Five months will fly by. If you really wanna

investigate, do it when you're fully recovered. Right now, with Marigold's death and the company's mess, maybe

you should put the Storm family case on ice."

Cormac knew Alaric too well. He wasn't the type to back down from threats.

Alaric stayed quiet, staring at the photo, feeling a chill. Whoever had this photo had known him for years. Was

there a mole? What other explanation was there?

"Are you listening to me?" Cormac was genuinely worried after spilling the truth.

"I know you're not scared of this stuff, but you're not flying solo anymore. You got a wife and three kids. You don't

even know who you're up against, which puts you at a disadvantage. Don't do anything stupid. Just put it on hold

for now, okay?" Cormac pleaded, afraid Alaric might do something rash.

Cormac was right. If he were alone, he wouldn't give a damn. But now he had a family. "Don't worry. | get it. |

won't do anything reckless," Alaric assured him.
