Chapter 174: I'm getting tired

We were in that situation when suddenly | saw Luke walking in our direction with a fuming expression. And due

to shock upon seeing him, | stood up in an instant with my mouth hanging in mid-air.

"Why? What happened? Are you okay?"

"Luke is here!" | replied, turning to David with an unexplained expression.

He raised an eyebrow when he saw him and then looked atwith a grin.

"Well, that's good! You can talk to him about what we talked about," he shrugged.

"But..." | bit my lip as | don't know how to say to him that Luke might have a different impression upon seeing us,

but | guess he already had an idea of what was going on inside my head.

"Oh, con, Sam, we're not doing anything wrong, so relax!" he chuckled as he stood up and even patted me

on the shoulder. "He's coming... | mean, storming," he motionedto face the furious-looking Luke who is now

only a few steps from us. "Luke," | said, wearing a serious face.

"So is this why?" he asked but his eyes were focused on David who just seemed relaxed as he stood next to me.

And now they started with the glaring competition.

"Why don't you answernow, Samantha?" Luke askedagain.

| couldn't help but frowned but decided to ignore his question and instead tried to introduce David to him even

though | know he knew him.

"David this is Luke and Luke, this is David---" but | haven't finished my introduction when he cutoff.

"You don't have to introduce him toagain because | know him! | remember him! Why don't you just answer

my question?" Again, he asked without looking atbut at David.

"What are you talking about?" | asked back, confused.

But then I held my breath as he turned to me, his eyes holding anger and hurt at the stime.

"Is this the reason why you were pushingaway and you wantedto stay away from you?"

"What?" my frown got deeper as my mouth dropped at his question.

"Tell me, is this why you wantedto leave because..." he paused as his hard gaze turned back to David.

"Because you wanted to go back to him?"

"Whoa! | can believe I'm hearing these things from you, Mr. Williams!" | formed my fists as | started to feel the

anger consuming my body and sanity. "Seriously? You're askingthat stupid question right now after what

you've done?" "Then what are you doing here and why are you with him?"

"Bro, we just met by chance earlier"

"Don't callbro because you're not my brother and can you shut your mouth--- I'm not talking to you!" he

interrupted David with a glare who was just trying to explain.

"Luke Marcuz!"

"Is this why no matter how | tried to explain to you, you don't listen because you want him back?"

"Because it's up toif | believe you and what you say not!"

"Tss!" a wry smile appeared on his lips.

-'Samantha, calm down! Take a deep breath and calm your nerves!'- | mentally told myself as | stared at him.

"So you want him back?"

"Enough!" | said in a low voice as | was still trying to calm my raging nerves but...

"You want him back that's why---"

"I said enough! For Christ's sake, Luke Marcuz!" And that made him stop and looked atwith shock. "Don't you

dare f**king turn the tables, Luke Marcuz Williams, and don't you ever bring those questions again because this

is not aboutand David but your stupid lies! I've had enough of your lies from the very start and | felt like my

heart as well as brain is going to explode at any minute!"

"So you're bringing the past right now,"

| witnessed how his reaction changed in his eyes from anger to being shocked and hurt afterward.

"I've had enough of everything and I'm tired! | wanted to stay away from you not because of David but because

of what you did, so don't put your jealousy on the line if you still wantto talk to you!" | glared at him,

ignoring his hurt expression as he stared at me. And then | turned to David with an awkward smile.

"I'm really sorry, David, I---"

"Nope, it's fine, don't worry about| understand," he shrugged. "I just want to inform Mr. Williams before |

leave that nothing is going on between us and that I'm getting married."

Luke blinked in surprise.

"Yup, you heard it right, Mr. Williams, I'm getting married so you don't have to freak out and get jealous. Sam and

| were friends and even though we have had a special relationship before, it's all in the past. Well, | admit she

forever will have a special place in my heart, but that's just all. We can no longer have any relationship other

than friends."

A smile crept onto my lips when David turned to me. | appreciate those words towards me.

"Anyway, | have to go, Sam, I still have to attend the seminar and besides, you also need to have a good talk,"

he winked atand | just nodded with a smile.

"Thanks, David,"

| just took a deep breath as soon as he disappeared from my sight. But when | looked at Luke, | couldn't help but

shook my head in disappointment.

"| can't believe you!" were the only words | uttered and tried to walk past him... yeah, tried... | tried to walk past

him and thought about leaving him there, but he grabbed my elbow and facedto him.

"I'm sorry," he whispered but | closed my eyes as it was the only way | know to calm down at that moment.

| slowly took his grip off me.

"I'm sorry," he repeated.

"You know what, | really don't know why you always say that word--- why you love to say that word! Tell me, is

the word sorry your favorite word to mention every tI'm with you?" "No, Sam..."

"Is the word sorry a license to you to do it all over again? | hate to say this but..." | paused as | sighed. "I'm

getting tired, Luke,"

"No, please don't say that!"

"Here we go again! We always cback to this kind of situation... where you always apologize! And after |

forgive you, you will do it again! For God's sake, Luke, aren't you tired because | am!"

"So, you're tired of me," it wasn't a question but more of a confirmation.

| just looked away with a sigh and didn't respond.

We both fell into silence after a few minutes, but he was just the one who broke it.

"Alright, | won't force you to talk toright now. I'll give you stto think and clear up your mind. | won't

call you, text you--- | won't talk to you if that's what you want. But | just want to make this clear... | didn't cheat

on you and never thought of doing it because | love you. | love you so much it hurtsthat you don't believe

me... you don't trust me."

My jaws fell at his words, but then | suddenly held my breath when he kissed me. It was just a quick kiss, but it

brought so many emotions and sparks deep down the corner of my heart.

"I love you," he said, kissingon the forehead before leavingstanding on my spot.

Tears formed around my eyes as | watched him walk with heavy steps until he was finally out of my sight.

There was one thing | realized as | watched him walk away at that moment... no matter how much you love

someone when they hurt you over and over again, you will find it hard to forgive.
