Chapter 259
Chapter 259
Yehoshua was both astonished and ecstatic, momentarily unable to grasp the reality unfolding before him just as
he tried to verify the astonishing news, another message from Fabian pinged through.
Fabian: (Today marks the conclusion of your training camp. Here's something crucial: we've found Elysia, Elysia
Evans. If you return a day late, you might miss her welchcelebration.]
Yehoshua’s eyes bulged, and his hand shook as he clutched the phone. Had anyone else imparted this
information, he would have doubted it instantly. But coming from Fabian, Yehoshua had no reservations.
He pondered his little sister, declared missing at birth, her nabsent from the Evans family tree, yet a room
perpetually reserved for her in the house-a room she never occupied. Over the years, although she was seldom
mentioned, their yearning for her remained.
The sudden message left Yehoshua momentarily stunned. He stood frozen, clutching his phone, unable to react.
Upon entering, Hugo noticed Yehoshua’s expression and playfully nudged him. “Are you so elated about winning
the award that you can’t move?”
Yehoshua snapped out of his reverie, but his first words were, “Hugo, what kind of gifts do girls like?”
Hugo's face lit up with amusement. “Oh, you've had an epiphany? Con, spill the beans. Which girl caught
your eye?”
“What epiphany? It's for my sister.”
Hugo's brows furrowed instantly. He thought, ‘Had winning the award driven him mad? Wasn't his sister.... gone
for years? He placed his hand on Yehoshua’s forehead, murmuring softly, “No fever here, either.”
Yehoshua brushed his hand aside with a serious demeanor. “I'm not sick; I'm serious. It’s really for my sister.”
“But isn’t your sister...”
“She's alive. I'm not talking about Evelyn; | mean my other sister.”
Hugo's eyes widened in astonishment at the revelation. As childhood friends as close as brothers, he was well-

Noticing Hugo's confusion, Yehoshua clarified, “I don’t have all the details yet, but I'm certain my sister is truly
alive. As my best friend, helpthink of a unique gift she might cherish?”
“A gift?” Hugo arched an eyebrow. “I've never been much into giving gifts, so I'm not sure. But don’t girls usually
adore teddy bears, princess dresses, or perhaps... designer bags?”
Upon hearing these suggestions, Yehoshua lowered his gaze. He realized that the gifts Hugo proposed were ones
his family would likely also consider, and they seemed all too ordinary. He wanted to present Elysia with a truly
one-of-a-kind gift.
Seeing his friend's expression, Hugo understood that none of his ideas had met Yehoshua’s expectations. So, he
casually remarked, “If none of those suggestions suit you, why not give her the medal you just won as a gift?”
“A medal? Would she truly appreciate it?”
Hugo's interest piqued instantly. “Would you seriously consider giving it to her?”
“Why not? Her liking it is more important than anything else.”
Hugo clicked his tongue in amusement. The medal Yehoshua so casually gave away represented the pinnacle of
honor for military officers across the globe, something many had fought tirelessly to attain. But to him, it was
merely an afterthought.

Hugo draped his arm casually around Yehoshua’s shoulder and spoke in a laid-back manner. “Gifts are all about
the thought. behind them. As long as the intention is genuine, it's perfect.”
Yehoshua nodded in agreement. Indeed, aside from this medal, he couldn’t have cup with a better present.
Being the last in his family to learn about this news, he had already missed out on so much with Elysia. He
wasn't even certain if she would be upset upon his return.
His eyes flickered as he pondered the welchparty. He turned to Hugo and asked anxiously, “When are
we heading back?”
Hugo, puzzled by his sudden excitement, replied honestly, “If everything goes smoothly, it should be an
afternoon flight.”
“Afternoon?” That meant they would arrive in Clusia at night, and after returning to the military, it would be the
next day before he reached home.
“What's the rush?” Hugo inquired.
“My sister's welchparty is tomorrow, and | can’t be late,” Yehoshua explained.
“Your sister's welchparty...” Hugo was momentarily taken aback, and then a mischievous grin spread
across his face. “Well, I'll be attending too, of course! Let's head back to the base, and we can go together.”
Yehoshua raised an eyebrow, looking defensive. “Why are you going to my sister's welchparty? Did |
invite you?”
“You're really throwingunder the bus. Who just said we were best friends? And now you're acting like you
don’t even know me?” Hugo paused, suddenly thinking of something, and quickly added, “You don’t think your
sister might seeand preferover you, do you?”
“Do you honestly think there's any comparison between us?” Yehoshua countered.
Hugo was instantly annoyed by his words. “I know you're the God of War, but I'm not too shabby myself, alright?
My grades... they're just slightly lower than yours.”
“What do you mean by ‘slightly?” Yehoshua pressed.
“Yehoshua, if you keep acting like this, we can’t be friends anymore,” Hugo threatened.
“Thanks,” Yehoshua replied, his focus elsewhere.
“Hey! Yehoshua, we grew up together. Are you really okay with not being friends with me?” Hugo shifted his
tone, giving a sly smile. “Are you worried aboutgoing back with you because you think I'll win your sister
over? | mean, | don’t look half bad myself.

those who do.
“Girls can be too much, crying over everything. | can’t deal with it, so there's no need to worry abouttrying
to win your sister over. That's just not happening,” Hugo said firmly.
Yehoshua gave him a sidelong glance, his voice deep and captivating. “Are you done?”
Yep.
“I think you might have misunderstood. I'm not afraid of you competing with me. My charm speaks for itself, and
you're no match,” Yehoshua said, taking a deep breath. “But to prevent you from getting too overconfident, I'll
reluctantly take you with me; just don’t cause trouble, alright?”
Hugo's eyes lit up at the prospect. “Don’t worry; | promise not to say anything out of line.”
Chapter 259
“Okay, Yehoshua agreed.
After stime, Hugo suddenly realized something and raised his eyebrows slightly. “Yehoshua, you know even
if you don’t take me, | can find a way to get there myself, right?”
Yehoshua didn’t fully grasp his meaning, but he listened as Hugo continued, “Your family’s welchparty
will undoubtedly invite my father. I'll just tag along, it’s as simple as that.”
Then Hugo put on an expression of mock regret, saying, “I should have just kept my mouth shut earlier.”
“Even if you do come, | won't let you in,” Yehoshua responded calmly.
Hugo almost choked on his anger at the seemingly calm words.
