Chapter 1699
Maxwell quickly intervened, positioning himself between Adrian and Sonia with a frown of disapproval.
“Adrian, what are you doing?”
Sonia gazed up at Adrian, her expression one of bewilderment.
Adrian c@@ked his head, his eyes wide with innocence.
“What's wrong with hugging my bestie?”
“What?” Sonia gasped, gesturing to herself in surprise.
“Me?”
Just then, Adrian seemed to recall something important and called out to Jennifer, who was reclining on the sofa.
“Hey, why are you just sitting there? Get us something to eat.
Can't let my bestie go hungry!”

As Jennifer approached Adrian, her frustration was evident in her clenched teeth.
She muttered a warning, “Adrian, you better straighten up, or you'll regret it!”
Adrian, undeterred, mirrored her stance with exaggerated precision— eyebrows raised, hands on hips, chin lifted
defiantly.
“Adrian! I'll count to three.
Cha
nge your attitude, or I'll find myself another man!” Adrian yelled to Jennifer.
Maxwell, Sonia, and Jennifer were all speechless.
Clearly, Adrian was hallucinating now; he thought he was Jennifer.
The silence continued for a while.
Examining Adrian’s demeanor, Jennifer felt her patience wearing thin.
Was Adrian really hallucinating, or was he using this as a chance to mock her? And he was making her look so
arrogant.
She was nothing like that!
“You're in big trouble, Adrian,” Jennifer snapped, pointing at him accusatorily.
Just then, a nurse entered with smedicine, immediately picking up on the charged atmosphere.
“He is a patient,” she reminded Jennifer gently.
The nurse’s reminder made Jennifer recall the doctor's advice from days earlier-keep Adrian calm and engage
positively to aid his recovery.
Once the nurse exited, Jennifer took a deep breath, reigning in her anger.
However, Adrian, still caught up in his hallucination, continued to provoke Jennifer.

Sonia quickly stepped forward, playing the peacemaker.
After a while, Adrian finally stopped.
“Finally.
” Sonia released a sigh of relief, preparing to commend Adrian on his improved behavior.
But the next second, Adrian said to Jennifer, “Adrian, if you don’t getsfood, I'll never talk to you again!”
Stunned by the sudden change, Sonia was left speechless.
Considering Adrian was a patient, Jennifer felt compelled to play along.
With a deep sigh, she resigned herself to fetch ssnacks.
As she left the room, Adrian couldn't resist a smug smile.
“Make sure it’s strawberry cake.
If not, I'll break up with you!”
