“Shut up!” Jennifer snapped back without looking, her frustration evident as she slammed the door shut behind

her.

Adrian winced at her response.

He then turned to Sonia to vent.

“My husband is really testing my patience.

Sonia, amused by the unfolding yet trying to maintain peace, nodded and played along, barely containing

her laughter.

After their conversation, Adrian gave Sonia a smile.

Thank you for your advice.

“Anytime,” Sonia responded.

Maxwell, who had been quietly observing the chaos, suddenly regretted his decision to visit.

After talking to Sonia for a while, Adrian finally noticed Maxwell.

Squinting, Adrian nudged Sonia.

“When did you get divorced? | don’t remember this guy being your husband.

Is he your new partner?”

“Stop talking nonsense!” Sonia reacted quickly, her hands moving animatedly as she said, “He's my boss, not

my husband.

“Oh, I see.

” Adrian chuckled, seemingly satisfied with the explanation.

After a brief exchange, he picked up a fruit tray, declaring he would wash sfruit for Sonia, and made his way

to the bathroom.

Maxwell then turned to Sonia with a serious tone.

“Who's this ‘husband’ Adrian mentioned?”

“How should | know?” Sonia met his questioning gaze, hastily saying, “Honestly, | don’t have a husband.

Adrian just gets confused and says things sometimes.

Maxwell didn’t know whether he should believe her or not.

Suddenly, a loud sound from the bathroom came, indicating someone had fallen.

Sonia was on the verge of investigating personally when Maxwell intervened.

“Stay here, you're still hurt.

I'll handle this,” Maxwell said firmly.

Sonia, usually one to argue, complied this time, waiting silently as Maxwell went to check things out.

Moments later, she saw Maxwell return, carrying the unconscious Adrian from the bathroom.

Confused, she asked, “What happened to Adrian?”

“He fainted,” Maxwell answered.

Sonia paused, annoyance creeping into her tone.

“That much is clear! I'm not blind, okay? Why did he faint?”
