Chapter 3
For the past three years, she had really tried with Finnian.
She poured her heart into mastering the art of cooking, showing up at Finnian's office every day with a warm
meal, hoping he'd enjoy a hot dish after work. But he never even took a bite, and he wouldn't even cout to
see her.-
Amara spent her hard-earned money from writing to buy Finnian clothes, piece after piece, only for Will to subtly
point out that they just piled up, gathering dust in the corner, never worn.
These things left Amara feeling pretty down. She figured Finnian must find her unattractive.
Before they got married, Finnian had seen a picture of her, her once-simple face marred by two severe scars.
Even she found it hard to look at herself, so she completely understood Finnian's feelings.
So, she thought, she'd just have to make herself more attractive before approaching Finnian again.
Finnian was top-notch in every way, and only a woman who matched his caliber could stand by his side, she
thought. She got that.

What she hadn't expected was that all her efforts over the past three years would be in vain, because Finnian
already had someone else.
"Are you shopping too, Ms. Sullivan?" Liliana withdrew her hand and smiled.
Just as Amara was about to speak, Elysia jumped in, "Not Ms. Sullivan, she's still Mrs. Everly, so please show
srespect.”
Amara had just signed the divorce papers that morning. It would take a few days for the divorce to be finalized,
so Elysia wasn't wrong. Liliana's face turned sour.
Finnian glanced at Amara with a cold expression and said, "Cover here."
Amara had no idea what Finnian wanted to talk about, and she felt a bit nervous as she followed him to a nearby
hallway.
Finnian looked down at her, his voice bone-chilling icy. "Keep your friend in check."
Amara clenched her fists.
His words were pretty harsh on Elysia, but to be fair, Elysia had been giving the other woman a hard time. Was
Finnian upset because his beloved was getting hassled?
She gripped her fists tighter and said, "I know, Elysia just misunderstood something earlier, she didn't mean
anything by it. You don't have to worry."
With that, Amara maintained a composed demeanor as she walked away, grateful she was wearing a mask. At
least Finnian wouldn't see the pallor of her face.
In the parking lot, Elysia exclaimed, fumed, "Those two are unbelievable! | just want to give them few kicks!"
Amara chuckled, patting her on the shoulder to calm her down, though her own gaze grew somber. "Actually,
Finnian didn't do anything wrong," she said quietly. "He just doesn't love me."
Elysia understood all that. If Finnian simply didn't love Amara, then Amara walking away with a few million
dollars could be considered a good deal, but...
"Are you still not going to tell him about what happened a month ago?"
That question made Amara's face go pale.
Most people thought she and Finnian had only met twice, but the truth was, they'd met three times.
A month ago, Finnian had been

drugged and, in a haze, ended up at the Everly family estate. Amara had been there taking care of Grace, and
they ended up getting intimate.
The next morning, Amara was in a rush to deal with work and left early. When she finally finished her tasks, she
intended to tell Finnian about it, but Grace suddenly fell critically ill and passed away within two days, leaving
the Everly family in chaos.
By the tthe funeral was over, Finnian had gone abroad for over half a month, and when he finally returned,
she was greeted with divorce papers.
"And what good would telling him do? He'd just add another line to the divorce settlement," Amara said with a
bitter smile.
Elysia sighed and gave Amara a hug.
"Well, that's that. Just keep the
money and letlook out for you from now on. Oh, by the way, did you..." Elysia suddenly remembered. After
that night, with the chaos of Grace's passing, she wasn't sure if Amara had taken any precautions.
But just then, Amara's phone rang, and Elysia decided to bring it up later. Unfortunately, she forgot to mention
it entirely.
