Chapter 69
His voice was cool, devoid of any emotion. The unexpected kiss last night had brought them closer, yet the
recent incident had widened the gap between them once more.
Amara couldn't bring herself to look back at him; she feared her eyes would betray the emotions swirling within
her. “It's fine,” she said. “You helpingis a kindness, not helpingis your right.”
Amara was the kind of person who knew when to stand her ground but often too much so, to the point where she
wouldn't make a fuss even if treated unfairly. Finnian felt a strange, fleeting emotion rise within him.
"Are you planning to fight for the Sullivan family shares?"
Though Amara hadn't spelled it out, spending the night observing had given him a clear picture of the situation.
"I can help you," Finnian offered.
If the Everly family were to partner with the Sullivan Group, Larry would be overjoyed and might willingly transfer

Amara understood his logic but shook her head. "No need."
A partnership between the Everly Group and the Sullivan Group would bind her too closely to the Everly Group, a
path she was reluctant to take, especially now with a child to consider.
Finnian was surprised by her decisive refusal of what would clearly benefit her. He realized he understood Amara
less and less, perhaps he never did from the beginning.
The next morning, Amara returned to the film set, watching the shoot as usual. Finnian, as always, accompanied
Liliana.
Previously, Finnian's presence only sparked mild comments about how lucky Liliana was to have a partner who
picked her up every day.
But now that everyone knew Amara was Finnian's lawful wife, their gazes were different when Finnian brought
Liliana to the set.
Amara sat on a small folding stool beside the camera, diligently reading her script, her face expressionless,
though inside she was hurting.
Nearby, when actors and crew witnessed the scene, they exchanged whispers, "Poor Amara is her face scarred
or something? If she weren't so plain, Mr. Everly wouldn't be divorcing her, right?"
"Mr. Everly is so handsome; he should be with sbeauty like Liliana Amara's just a plain Jane; she has no
business with him Anyone who pities her is just too soft-hearted."
"That's true. The world's just like that-beautiful people belong together while the less fortunate end up alone."
These hushed conversations reached Finnian's ears. His expression darkened as he glanced over at Amara.
She sat there in her knit sweater and jeans, solitary on her little stool, looking quite forlorn. The strange feeling
within him resurfaced.
After a moment's thought, Finnian walked over to Amara. People watched him as he made his way.
Unperturbed, he approached Amara and asked, "What are you doing?"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAmara looked up, noticing Finnian sat beside her. Many eyes turned their way, leaving her feeling uneasy.
What were people thinking now that
Finnian had approached her? Did they asshe was here to discuss their divorce? Clutching her script, she
stood up and said softly,
"Nothing much, I'll be heading back."
She retreated to the break room, while Finnian watched her leave, a furrow forming on his brow.
